1. Maintain proper ventilation: Increase air circulation by opening doors, windows or using exhaust fans in rooms where moisture and humidity tend to accumulate, such as the kitchen and bathroom.

2. Avoid indoor smoking: Smoking generates smoke, which is one of the main causes of indoor air pollution. If you cannot quit smoking, designate a specific space for smoking that is well-ventilated and away from children.

3. Use air purifiers: Air purifiers reduce the level of harmful indoor pollutants such as smoke, pet hair, and mold spores. These air purifiers can work effectively, purifying the air in a room as large as 500 square feet.

4. Adjust humidity levels: Maintain adequate levels of humidity (between 30%-50%) in your home. High levels of humidity can lead to the growth of mold and mildew while low humidity levels can cause sore throats or dry eyes.

5. Choose low VOC products: Reduce the risk of exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by selecting products such as paint, flooring, and furniture with low VOC ratings.

6. Keep your home clean: Regularly dust and vacuum to remove dust and dirt particles, which can irritate allergies and cause respiratory distress.

7. Invest in plants: Indoor air purifying plants such as spider plants, snake plants and aloe vera, can be added to your home to help reduce the toxic gases and pollutants inside your home.

8. Regularly replace filters: Regularly replacing filters in your air conditioning unit and heating system will also promote cleaner air in your home.
